More on vitamin D:

"People still don't get it: Vitamin D is the "miracle nutrient" that activates your immune system to defend you against invading microorganisms -- including seasonal flu and swine flu."
"Vitamin D prevents the "adaptive" immune response from over-reacting and reduces inflammation, and appears to suppress the immune response. However, the function of the new genetic element this research explored allows vitamin D to boost the innate immune response by turning on an antimicrobial protein. The overall effect may help to prevent the immune system from overreacting."
"You need vitamin D, not a vaccine
Your body doesn't need a vaccine to combat the swine flu (or seasonal flu, for that matter). What it needs is vitamin D, restful sleep, adequate hydration with clean water, and good nutrition.
These things make the vaccine obsolete."
To this I would add: take ample amounts of vitamin C. This vitamin has been debunked by the pharmaceutical industry (imagine that) by studies using usually 500mg as the studied dosage. Vitamin C is water soluble and washes out of the body within an hour or so. The key to making this vitamin effective is to take it frequently throughout the day. A long time ago I read an article about a group of doctors who took 1000mg of vitamin C 4 to 6 times a day during the cold and flu season to keep themselves from getting the colds and flus that they are exposed to on a daily basis. I adopted this method myself. Since then, at the first tingle of a cold by anyone in our house, we increase our dosage of vitamin C for the next couple of weeks. We also get plenty of sleep and avoid stress. IF we get sick, it is usaully very mild and is mostly gone within a day or so.

Also I would suggest adopting a healthy attitude. Such as thinking I am healthy. Using phrases like "I am NOT getting sick" should be avoided. The subconscious ignores the NOT and only hears "I am getting sick". I guess most of you folks know about this though.

DO NOT BE AFRAID - BE WISE
Whether you choose to vaccinate or not you need to support your overall health. Strengthen your immune system through adequate sleep, healthy diet, exercise and take time to experience JOY in your life - have a belly laugh or two each day!
Swine Flu

-large amounts of mucous are produced, sense of drowning in own mucous
-secondary bacterial infection i.e. staph aureuse or strep
Cytokine Storm:
Cytokines are cell messengers that signal the immune system to build a defensive response. If the viral load is too high, the cytokines over react causing a biochemical cascade of cells that in the case of H1N1 can effectively block the airways so the person finds it difficult to breathe.
-Ensure fluid intake or situation can worsen.
Intervention: go to emergency if:
Children- fast breathing, shortness of breath, (dyhydration) poor fluid intake, bluish skin colour, flu symptoms improve then rapidly worsen, fever with rash
Adults: shortness of breath, pain or pressure in chest, confusion, dizziness, persistent vomiting
